Hers IS very well done ^_^
I'm not big on wearing fursuits but ya gotta appreciate the work put into them _________________ I'm a white thylacine with turqoise stripes, eyes, & hair.
I'd always rather just have ears and a tail, but fursuits are cool, I guess. The Dobie one is very good, in my ignorant eye. (Meaning that I dont' know the good from the bad from the ugly.) _________________ ~Ginny~
What Sara said sounds about right to me... although ive never worn one, they'd have to pretty hot and sweaty anyway. _________________ If you don't understand me, don't worry. I understand.
Yep. My friend once worked as the Chuck E Cheese dude with the big fursuit...and he said it was terrible; it smelled bad too from all the people that had used it... _________________ ~Ginny~
Its not so bad if you have a fan in the nose, although your eyes dry out a bit, you stay cool on not-hot days. Keeping your suit inside out to dry and spritzing it with fabreeze now and then keeps it fresh enough. I have seen more than one suit ruined by mildew so getting it dry is very important!
My first head was like wearing a plastic bag over your head... live and learn.
My cat head is pretty good for ventilation, and the lynx that me and Jeefers are working on is high-tech for sure! It has vent holes in the ears to let the heat out with a fan and 2 ducts, with an air gap above my head. Also there is the front fan that sucks cool air in the snoot. It also has a straw hole in the mouth (IMPORTANT!) so I can hydrate easy and i got a REAL long straw thingy (plastic tubing actually).
Its well worth the effort in IMHO, even if you just do it for a few hours each con. Now if the damn price of foam would stop going up!!! _________________ Tinkerbell March/White kitty cat...somewhat lynxish lately - bare bottom feet, love to exccessssssorize!
Nobody has posted for a while so I guess I will get it going again....
A lot of people do partial suits to stay cool. A head, paws, and feetsies isn't that hot and easy to get in and out of. You can do a theme suit for the rest or just a groovy ensemble. I usually do something sci-fi, like my star trek stuff, which has long sleeves so I can use small paws.
I have seen people who only put on the full suit for the parades.
My black pants for the star trek outfit, have a hole in the back about the belt line and part of my lynx tail goes in the hole and velcros to the pants on the inside so it looks like its attached to my bod. I can switch tails easy that way if I want to be a diff varmint.
