Can anyone tell me, is it normal (among furries, mind you, of course it's not normal overall) to subconsciosly adopt animal-like behaviors in your daily life? Like, for example, I've many times caught myself (or worse, had it pointed out to me by others) doing such behaviors as growling, baring my teeth, licking my hand, etc. , as well as taking a more... shall we say, lupine outlook and demeanor. Is that normal? _________________ Big guns = big funs

I think it could be normal to retain personality traits of ones persona, more so if identify with it on a personal level. (Otherkin, Sara?) Hm, I for one generally am fairly high-string, clumsy, and tend to hide in my hood. (Screw 'no hat' classes!)
Feels kinda weird to say it, but I'm generally good at running away, and squeak if I'm really super surprised. Medic used to be an opposite of me, horribly evil and tormenting, but now? Not so much.. _________________ Hamsters for life!

That's what I mean. Used to be two complete personalities (incredibly confusing, by the way), but they've kinda melded. _________________ Big guns = big funs

I've been doing those things & more since I was 2-3 years old. My family doesn't care for it but they now accept it & know it is just me. Tecoon has grown used to it fairly quickly (he doesn't do it like i do. I do it as regularly as if I was still a wolf) But I don't just do canine behaviors (though those are the most common) I do all kinds of sounds/actions of various types of creatures. I try to control it only at work. But anywhere else I express my feeling more by certain sounds more than words. Even my friends can translate for me when someone who doesn't know me see's me do this. ie-
*whimper*
"What was that?"
"Oh, she's just worried about Matthew"
*growl*
"Now she's a bit frustrated about the situation on top of worried. It's ok Sara!"
etc.
Sometimes it's more extreme, I will bite & scratch & just plain act like an animal if I'm upset or even playful.
Honestly I do act more animal than human most of the time. But I embrace it fully. So as far as I'm concerned, it is 100% normal & acceptable
(though with me, it is more tied to me being an Otherkin, not so much furry) Furry is more of an intrest, but Otherkin is my spirituality & my whole being

Thanks for the input. Though it's still not clear to me what precisely an otherkin is. _________________ Big guns = big funs

Very interesting information... it'll take me some time to process all of it, but I definitely understand much better now. _________________ Big guns = big funs

Yeah... I get that much. I'm starting to see the subtler differentiations and subgroups. _________________ Big guns = big funs

What do Otherkin think of Fursuits and the like? _________________ Hamsters for life!

I myself see nothing wrong with fursuits in the furry culture & I may have one myself in the future, but it has nothing to do with my being an otherkin it has to do with my furry side ^_^
I only know a few other otherkin/Therians & they usually don't have any issues with fur suits, but they themselves probably wouldn't wear one unless they are also a furry
(one guy I know kind of dislikes how people get furry & otherkin mixed up so he himself tries to stay away from furry culture)
Again it all depends on each individual _________________ I'm a white thylacine with turqoise stripes, eyes, & hair.
Nothing against you, Saradear. But I dealt with soooo much shit with them. ee;
I'm a therian, and I got really tired of all the 'fluff' otherkin that would constantly make me more and more exasperated. So at this point, I just sit back and keep out. I'm open about it ((same as I am open that I'm a witch ((stregherian, if you care to know)) and stuff)) but I won't get back into the community.
That said, yeah...I think in emotions, smells, etc. Never words. I'm also largely colorblind, which is really rare in females, I dream always in wolf form ((I'm a wolf therian. Yeah. Another one irritation-so many fluffsters wanna be wolf theris....grrr...)), etc, etc. I've posted this stuff before. _________________ ~Ginny~
I'm shy of nature too but I do not see myself as a tigerwannabe like there are a lot of furries.
I believe the spirit of the tiger is within me and it grants me gifts wich to me might be the reason why I've always had a stronger scent, hearing, sight, awareness then others I've been with in school and outside. _________________ The only way to truly love anyone is to give your life for them"
When it comes to justice, I got no such thing as a best friend
After reading that page, I have run a few of my beliefs in with that which I have read, and find many parallels.
Although, I do not beleive in a Spirit being of any specific label, "human" spirit, or "animal" spirit, it is simply a spirit
to me, that has it's own unique history, perhaps one has been of an "animal" persuasion more times, but it is of no consequence to me.
I do not see myself as an otherkin, due to that belief. however, without it, I would certainly make that distinction.
No, I do not believe my mind to be "Human"
Perhaps I am teetering on the edge of that Distinction?
It would explain why I growl, bite, whimper, and hiss rather than converse normally...
