Posted: Sat Nov 22, 2008 9:34 am Post subject: LOTS of new, and good, games recently, and soon
I've been drowning myself in videogames... which may or may not be a BAD thing, since I DO have work to do for my classes.
Fallout 3 (PS3)
Fable 2 (360)
Eternal Sonata (PS3)
Tales of Vesperia (360)
The Last Remnant (360)
Little Big Planet (PS3)
Folklore (PS3)
Silent Hill 5 (PS3)
Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood (DS)
Crono Trigger (DS)
NinjaTown (DS)
Persona 4 (PS2)
I just have SO much to play... and I still have PS2 games I need to get done... it's jsut too much.
Has anyone else given in to this wave of new games?
Yes and no! Yes because I've been grinding out in the new WoW expansion since the day it came out. (Account expired 3 days ago, forced to quit- but it was getting boring anyway)
No because I have a Wii- and sadly there doesn't seem to be any "Ya that's awesome!" new games for it recently. It's been real disapointing for those who want a challange, and are not so easily awed by the whole 'look I'm playing mini-golf!' aspect that Wii has really pushed a bit too far. New controls (and graphics) should not give way to memorable gameplay and overall quality.
The new computer games are looking pretty good! Just got The Witcher and Red Alert- which is great except for my computer can't handle either of them. -.-'
I would love to catch the 'next gen' wave- but I don't have anything to surf with!
However, I DID get a PsP (thank you brother!) that came with Patapon, Monster Hunter 2, and FF7 <- currently getting my tail kicked in that game.
Nice list, Tecoon! Hope you can get through all of those in one piece!
(and if you don't mind me asking, do you think the Ps3 or 360 is better, same with DS vs PSP) _________________ Hamsters for life!

Don't forget Warhammer Online! Glad to see someone get tough on the gold sellers for once!
And the Witcher's not new, I've had it for half a year!
And for the Wii, has anybody made control schemes specifically for the Zapper mount yet?
And preempting Tecoon, PC pwns both. _________________ Big guns = big funs

Warhammer Online!? Oh c'mon WoW has dealt with all(most) of the gold farmers already! Maybe that's just the WoW loyalty in me speaking, but I know for sure once (IF) Warhammer 40,000 comes out in a MMORPG format- that's what I'd go for!
*climbs onto "The Witcher" box for better inspection* But.. but it says >>NEW<< on the cover! I've never heard of boxes lieing, Sel! v._.v way to ruin my 'yay I got a new game' hype... Horribly less enthuastic about getting my brothers old computer so I can run the game, now. Isen't that game rated M anyway..? You shouldn't play M games when your not 17+ you know! ...
Hahaha! ^.^ Just playin'! (ESRB ratings, hehe..)
I heard that the new Call of Duty game works well with The Zapper- I assume it was tailored to that game, or the other way around. *sigh* Now with Kingdom of Heats 3 going to PS3, what's left for Wii?! (Monster Hunter 3, but that's only one game!)
Curse you Sel! It's been like 2 hours and I haven't read a page yet! Ok, no more posts till I finish this book..! (that's an odd post# amount..) _________________ Hamsters for life!

And WO completely pwns WoW, if you don't like it, you can take it up with my Chosen.
*Points at 7.5-foot tall linebacker-build warrior with heavy plate armor, a sword as big as he is, and a malicious magical aura*
Toreth: I can't even see him, he's too small.
Sel: So go for his WoW character.
Toreth: No. I refuse to dance.
ROFL. As you can see, he's not the brightest, but he slaughters hardy dwarves(the ones with flamethrowers) for weekend fun (though he has trouble with elf Shadow Warriors. "When I get unsnared, you two are so dead!"). That actually happened. I think he might have a bit of trool blood, but that might just be the mutations.
But yes, Witcher's been out for a while(Unless you mean the Enhanced Edition). Good game anyway, and I don't give a ^%*# about how old the game is. I've been known to rabidly play Half-Life, and that's positively ancient! So don't ruin your hype. It's still an awesome game. And if you need a hand, I think GameFAQs has an alchemy recipe sheet. It saved me on many occasions.
As far as M rating, I'm willing to break the rules. If those prudes at the ESRB think I'll be any more mature in 15 days than I am now, they've got another thing coming. _________________ Big guns = big funs

Alone, we're not much- but together we're 2 feet of unstoppable fury! Muhahaha!... haha.. o.o umm..
Retreat! Retreating is a military strategy! *Run awayyyy!*
(Just playin'! He's actually pretty starry with a sword & board- and escape artist really helps in pvp(rvr), along with being hard to click / see! Bet you can guess why I picked gnome..)
Old games, really Sel!? Gotta get in with the times! ...ok ok! Retro games are alot of fun sometimes. Talking about you, Megaman! Never could play half-life, was way to scary.. v._.v It was those jumpy things that got to me, really!
The only thing I'm starting to get annoyed with is the whole "video games caused increased aggression" studies- or when they blame some crazy psycho's murder on a game they played years ago... At least some extreme gaming professors are fighting back with studies of their own! -Don't forget to ask for something for your birthday, or they might get you nothing but a Gandhi doll and root-beer.. >_> _________________ Hamsters for life!

Crusaders without a cause, my good hamster, crusaders without a crusade. So they make one up. Like Jack Thompson, the disbarred lawyer who keeps trying to sue the game companies.
In fact, this page here has a very good perspective on the matter.
http://www.ethicsscoreboard.com/list/videogames.html
And the headcrabs were the least scary(If you don't count the giant 1 that was a boss) thing in half-life. You should have seen the first boss (1 hit kill, but blind, but good hearing. distract w/ grenades and solve puzzles for tentacle BBQ!)
...*Toreth steps on Gikki*
Toreth:...Oops.
And shields are for cravens. Claymores FTW. _________________ Big guns = big funs

They were if they're the only things you see before quitting the game! "ok, so far so- WHAT IN BLAZES WAS THAT?! *Alt+F4*" Still I guess it'd be fun to play if you had nerves of Duke Nukem.. (Real fun game too!)
Nice link! But I know alot about the subject because I always end up on the wrong side of a debate. (For example, I've had to debate that Smoking is ok to do and war is a good thing...)
*Gikki pulls himself out of his imprint in the ground and stats hacking away at Toreth's ankels*
-.- great now look what you've started..
Still, I'm wondering if WoW will hold it's current position in the MMORPG world. Yes it'll last for quite some time, as Ultima Online and everquest but it's only a matter of time before a new game becomes preferable. War looks nice, wanna give it a try but there's no trial accounts to test it out with.
Besides all the models are waaaay to realistic <U.G.L.Y> looking. But it looks fun, ugly yes, but fun! _________________ Hamsters for life!

Meh, I used to play WoW but I got over it. Too expensive.
I'm with Tec on this. Next-gen console games > PC games.
For online games I'm still addicted to CoD4, and on occasion I'll play Halo3.
The games I would recommend are:
Call of Duty 4 (360)
Mass Effect (360)
Fable 2 (360)
Left 4 Dead (360)
Rock Band (360 or PS3)
Spore 2 (PC)
and of course the classic: Portal (360)
I haven't played Fallout 3 yet, though it looks good. I also think Gears of War 2 is out now, and that's another game I want to get my paws on. _________________
Yeah, Mass Effect kicked $%@.
And I've heard good things about Left 4 Dead.
But no. No no no. Consoles will never be superior to PC. Ever. Remember that all of the best console games are ported to PC, but many of the best PC games stay on PC. _________________ Big guns = big funs

PC will stay at the top with FPS and Strategy games, as those are the games it really shines in. But I believe counsel has the upper paw with Action and Fighting games. It would be a pain to play Command and Conquer on a PS3, but at the same time it'd be hell trying to play games like Super Mario Galaxy on the PC. (Or Katamari Damacy)
As for next gen games- as a Wii owner I'm really really looking forward too Madworld.
I mean c'mon, just LOOKING at it hurts! (Hard to find a pic without blood >.>)
A boss with jet engines for fists!? Oh ya, it's gonna be good. _________________ Hamsters for life!

Reality? Is it possible to change what is real, perhaps we've already changed reality without knowing. I wonder if... *Goes on and on about theoretical nonsense*
Stylistic VS Realism, Casual VS Hardcore. With the counsel wars waging, I'm sure that each company will be frantically selling to any market they can.
I'm wondering how long the 'Rock Band' type of games can hold out, looks like they've done all they could with the genre. But I'm sure they'll think of something as the next innovative idea would really give the game some leverage gameplay wise.
It'll be an interesting year for gamers, know that much. Looking at the sequels for already well known games to hold the attention of fans- but there's a large opportunity for innovative games here. The main concern is if gamers will stick to what they already know, or reach out for a new experience. No matter how great a game is, if no one tries it then the whole point is lost. (For example, Okami. Praised by critics but had horrible sales- they had to shut down Clover Studios because of it.) _________________ Hamsters for life!

I'm looking forward to SWORO (Star Wars the Old Republic Online) by my favorite dev, Bioware. I'm also waiting eagerly for the next Zelda to be announced. And if you like shooters and have a decent gaming PC, I'd reccomend Crysis by Crytek. An excellent game, lots of thought required.
And I know it's illegal, but I also like to download emulators of old consoles like the N64. I come from a long line of pirates. _________________ Big guns = big funs

I haven't, but I'd love to once I replenish my money. Actually, I'd prefer to wait until it comes out on PC, all my Xbox does nowadays is collect dust. _________________ Big guns = big funs

YES! Morrow Wind was so much fun..!
I can't wait to get Oblivion- just need to convince my brother he has better games to play.
Eh, I'm getting quite bored of WoW now, even Warhammer isn't as new / refreshing as I thought it'd be. But being in a furry guild is alot of fun, so I keep playing till my card runs out. =P _________________ Hamsters for life!
