Does anyone have their own heroes? People that they really respect or look up to in their life?

One of my heroes whom I have alot of respect for is William Pitsenbarger. What he did, it is truly heroic to me... He is who I think of first when I think of a hero.. "These things we do, that others may life."

Another hero to me is John Paul Larkin, for the way he lived, and how he overcame his own challenges.
Not only was it what he did that inspires me, but it's how he did it that amazes me the most, and that is what makes him a hero to me.

James Robinson, he is also a hero to me.
I can't imagine how he was able to ignore the intense fear of death to save the lives of so many others, as he did.
His actions surpass in courage that of a normal person, that is why I respect him so.

So what about you? Who's your hero?

I've never grieved for a human death untill his
(not even my mother. But I was young)

He was the only person I felt was worth a damn on this Earth because of his efforts to protect and help all living creatures

I wish everyday I could do what he's done

No one is a hero to me. To be a hero in my eyes, I have to know you in person. Being famous/well known doesn't make you a hero.

So what makes someone a hero? What do you think-
Does being a kind and generous person make you a hero, or to knowingly risk your life for the sake of others, do they make you a hero? Is being an inspiration to others heroic?

The view of someone being a hero might change from side to side, as it does from enemy to friend.

Steve Irwin, he was a great man, I cant argue with that- nor would I want to.
He has done so much to help conserve wildlife, and to save endangered species, it is truly amazing what lengths he went to to protect living creatures.
What I hate is the bastards that say "no shock at all that Steve Irwin should die provoking a dangerous animal" and "Irwin made his career out of antagonizing frightened wild animals, that's a very dangerous message to send to children.". They have no respect for a man whom respect is due.

There are far too many grate people that are grate in there own way for me to single anyone out. Past and present. I would rather think of the grate things people have done as an inspiration in life rather then think of just one. Like the people that tried to help each other during disasters [ beached wales, forest fires, oil spills, animal rescue of all types, banding together to escape a didaster.] We at times as people work together to do grate things. This is when we are at are best as people. Sorry Medic. The whole hero thing is a good idea but I can't do this. No one to me is grater then all. It to me is like some sports winnings. The guy in first place gets the recognition even though he may have won by one point out of 100. What about the other guy that came so close? Well, he is soon forgotten as so many other grate people just because they did not get the same recognition the victor did. We look for the best but what about the ones that helped make a difference that did not get recognized for it. The unsung hero. Who are they? And where they any better then the ones we herd about? I can't praise one over others. I can praise them for what they each did but not one. In a way to me it is the greatness done that matters most. More then who did it. I think any truly grate person would agree. To do a grate thing because it was the right thing to do rather to do something one would be remembered for is to me the mark of a truly grate person.
